| What is Glaucoma? | |||||||||||||||||||
|
The most common form of glaucoma occurs when the eye's drainage system functions poorly. As a result, the inner eye pressure rises and over a period of time causes damage to the optic nerve. The optic nerve acts like an electric cable with millions of wires that are responsible for carrying the images we see to the brain. Glaucoma is an eye disease that gradually steals sight without warning and often without symptoms. Glaucoma affects over three million Americans.
